Moore trying to make himself out as the little guy

A quote:

Moore said: “Well, capitalism did nothing for me, starting with my first film.”

“You know, I had to pretty much beg, borrow and steal,” he said. “The system is not set up to help somebody from the working class make a movie like this and get the truth out there.”

“In fact, in Fahrenheit 9/11 if you remember, capitalism, the Disney Corporation, tried to kill that film–tried to make it so that people couldn’t see it,” said Moore. “My book Stupid White Men–Harper Collins tried to kill that book so that people couldn’t see it. It’s only because I put the light of day on it and told people what was going on did people get the chance to see these things.”

Capitalism is about competition, markets, buyers and sellers, among other things.

Moore could similarly describe many a small business owner who also struggled to get started, and then made it big.

Moore is a moron. Capitalism doesn’t guarantee the little guy that anyone is going to invest in his or her ideas, not matter how good. What it does do is allow the possibility that an individual can break out of the pack and put something on the market that lots of people will buy.

It allows independence from the government, so that we’re not funneling all our money into the government so that only a few government officials are deciding what ideas get funded and what ideas don’t.
